The Tri-Valley has some great places to take your dog and we are going to uncover some of those locations today! On leash and off leash are a couple of different aspects to taking your dog places. Most places are on leash but there are few that are off leash.
Pleasanton has over 40 parks and yet does not have one dog park. There is a very small area on Muirwood Park but it is not the first place I would go. The Ridge is an on leash path that runs for miles. I will say that once you get going and if your dog is friendly most people turn their dogs loose. Watch out for poison oak, it is not so much on the path but is around and dogs have a way of finding it! Another location is the back lakes of Shadow Cliffs. There is a nice long path and a loction to let your dog swim. This is a very popular location and the best way to get there is to park off on a side street off Vineyard Rd.
Dublin has one of the first dog’s parks around. This park is always busy and there is a good group of people and dogs that go there. The location is on Amador Valley Blvd, and there is plenty of parking there as well. The Iron Horse trial is a path that runs from Pleasanton to Lafayette. I good place to hop on the trial is also on Amador Valley Blvd. This is an on leash trail.
Livermore has the most and best places to take your dog! Starting with dog parks, Livermore has five of them. Clearly the best one is on Charlotte Rd. off East Ave or Vasco Rd. This is a beautiful fenced in dog park that is about an acre in size. It is called Bruno Canziani and there is a great group of people and dogs. Another popular dog park is Martin A Pound which is on Bluebell Dr. This park has separate areas for large dogs and small dogs which is important if you have a little guy. The Vista Meadows Park is located on Westminster Way. This park is another large off leash park that is almost an acre in size. My favorite place to take my dog is Sycamore Grove Park. Sycamore Grove Park is located on Wetmore Rd. and it is 774 acres of open space. They have a great walking path that runs for miles. This is an on leash park but I always turn my dog loose shhh don’t tell anyone!
Have fun at any of these locations and remember to make sure your dog is fully vaccinated before your dog goes anywhere. Not only for other peoples pets safety but for your pets as well!
