We are just over a week away from saying Good-Bye, Farewell, and Good Riddance to 2020!
What a year we have had! A worldwide pandemic, an unprecedented election, home schooling, restrictions, restrictions eased, restrictions imposed again, lack of human interaction, working from home, and travel bans became a new way of life.
When we rang in 2020, we didn’t know the search for toilet paper and paper towels as well as hand sanitizer would cause such a craze!
The importance of first responders, health, and the general well-being of each of us played front and center while sports were canceled.
Throughout the year, we held tightly to the news, social media, and neighborhood resources, relying on experts more than ever before and still not being certain of what is and was to come.
Real Estate Took Center Stage in 2020
Through all of this chaos, the real estate market took on a frenzy unrivaled by any other market in the history of the industry. People could choose where they wanted to live instead of having to live close to their source of employment.
Large backyards and rooms for Zoom meetings, home schooling, and gyms held more precedence than ever before. The kitchen became a staple for the family to gather around as children moved back home.
Home sales boomed with listings spending hours, if not mere days, on the market. Sellers welcomed high sales often over asking price and some received all cash offers.
Buyers enjoyed historically low interest rates and increased jumbo loan amounts, allowing buyers to get more home for less money!
There was little downtime in the market, aside from the start of the Pandemic when uncertainty side-lined the real estate market. If Realtors® only knew what the rest of the year would be like, The Gamache Team is quite certain we would have enjoyed the brief respite!
Wishing all of you a Happy Holiday Season from The Gamache Team
