Updates and Improvements Planned for Livermore

According to a recent report by the Bay City News Service, there is a 20 year General Plan for updates and improvements to Livermore.

Some of the most notable improvements including widening Vasco Road north of Garaventa Ranch Road through the Dalton Avenue intersection to increase traffic flow and improve the safety of bike riders; adding a new parking garage at I Street and increasing the number of parking spaces at L Street to benefit residents and visitors and make it easy to visit our historic downtown; and adding a new Livermorium Plaza to pay homage to “the artificial transuranium atomic element produced in 2000 by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Russian scientists.” The Livermorium promises a spinning “water ball” that is sure to bring delight and artistry to our already fantastic downtown.

This 20-year plan includes $152 million in capital improvements and is being spearheaded by 19 members of the community. The public is welcome to attend the planning meetings which are held on the second Wednesday of each month.

Pleasanton is Getting a Makeover!

From recreation to shopping, retail, restaurants, mental health, environment, housing and more, Pleasanton’s City Council recently adopted a two-year work plan to make improvements to Pleasanton.

Over the next two years, residents and visitors to Pleasanton will witness changes to the already popular city. Over 90 items made the list of improvements that are set to take place with strong support from first-year Pleasanton Mayor Karla Brown.

In a May 27 article in The Patch, Brown states, “…there are many exciting topics that will be coming forward in the next two years…I supported programs that keep our community healthy and active, and there were many projects this year that aimed to have fun while improving our lives.”

Some of the New Plans for Pleasanton’s Makeover

Some of the plans for Pleasanton’s makeover include:

  • Assisting residents and small businesses in recovering from the effects of COVID-19
  • Implementing the newly formed Police Chief Community Advisory Board and the alternative mental health response pilot program
  • Developing a framework for Stoneridge Shopping Center
  • Rezoning residential housing and incorporating senior housing
  • Improving parking in Downtown Pleasanton
  • Eliminating hazardous chemicals from the local water supply
  • Repairing streets to make them safer for pedestrians and bicyclists
  • Creating a plan to connect BART to Valley Link
  • Phasing out plastic utensils from restaurants/retail establishments
  • Implementing smoking restrictions
  • Improving many recreational facilities; adding sports; developing an all-access playground
  • Reopening city community services
  • So much more!
